The main event of this story so far to me is that she got arrested, and why she got arrested. If Sarah didn't pick up that knife, she would have not been arrested, she would be baking bread and she would be OK. But, she didn't think on how that effected her. And if she didn't go and try to find her brother, the people who arrested her would not think that she started the fire to help her brother escape from jail. Also she would still have her dad if he didn't tear up that book thing. But there is nothing she could do for her brother, he made up his mind about fighting against the king. There are a lot of things Sarah and her dad could have done to stay alive and have a family, and a house. Lots of things could have been different.
Chloe, I agree with you also. I agree with you on three things. The first thing is that the main event so far was her getting arested. Like you said, if only she hadn't have picked up the knife. She might have not been arested. The next thing that I agreed with is when you said that things would be different if Sarah's dad did not tear up that book thing. The last thing that I agreed with is that when you said all these things could add up and she might have still had her family. This was a great paragraph. I enjoided reading it!
This story might have been different if it took place in a different time periob, or location. I am curious about sarah getting arrested. If her brother didn't get arrested she wouldn't be there in the jail. Also she wouldn't be there if the man didn't tell her that her brother isn't in the jail. I think that she got arrested because she picked up the knife and they thought she was going to hurt someone. if her borther did get arrested he wouldn't of dead on the ship. They could of change all that they did to make it better.
I agree with you completely, Carmen. I am still a little confused on the part of her brother being arrested though. Wasn't he at the Lion and the lamb working? I thought that the Lion and the Lamb was neutral territory.
If this story was taking place in a different time period, like say now, I think the story would have been quite different. For one thing Sarah would be open to her own opinion. She wouldn't quite so afraid to have here own say. Sarah may also have had a more fair trial. Maybe she would be watched until they found the real culpret. Her father still might even be alive. Many things would be different if this story did take place in this time, I'm sure there would be many more things That I didn't think of. Sarah might be able to cook more things. Her life would be simpler. Her father may even have been kinder towards her.
If the time, period, and location was different in this book, things would be quite different. If it was a different time, new things would be invented. New states would form. This period (now), is way more advanced than back then. If we want to talk to someone half-way across the world, we can call them on cell phones. We ride by car on a long distance trip. We are way different that back then. If Sarah lived in this time and period, things may have turned out better. Her family may not have died and she could go to school. Her and her family could have never even been envolved in the war with a new/different location. Everything would have to depend on just that. Time, Period, Location!
If the time and location was different in this book everything would change. New things would be invented. Today, is way more advanced then back then. If we want to talk to someone far away we can just call them on cell phones. People back then had to write letters they didn't have cell phones. If Sarah lived in this time period things would be completely different. For one thing, her family might not have died. Also, her family might not have had to be involved in the war. Sarah could have gone to school if she wanted too. Clearly, everything would change if the time period and location was different in this book.
I agree with you. If it took time now her family could be alive. We have more advanced medical technology that could have saved her father from his burns, andher mother may still be alive. Her brother may actually still be alive, he would not have been treated like he was on that prison ship, in fact he wouldn't have even gone to jail. Plus he would he would have better protection in the military. Chad may not have even joined the army.
4. If the time or location changed this would be a completely different story. Lets say that this book took place in our time this book would be way different. The brother wouldn't have joined the war because their is know war. That means he probably would be alive and so would the dad. Instead of voting between King George and George Washington it would be between Obama and Romney. Many things would be different. I think she would be better of living here.
Hannah, I agree that our time period would be a far safer place for Sarah and her family. I think the Revolutionary War was a scarey time and place. People were so close to the war, it was happenng on people's farms and in people's streets. I am thankful for our military and that I was born in this time period.
4. One of the main events in the story so far would be the death of Sarah's brother and father. Ultimately, it is their deaths that have her living alone. A different time and location would change the fact that America was at war with England. If there had not been a war, Chad wouldn't have joined the rebels and been captured. If there hadn't been a war, Birdsall and his men wouldn't have killed Sarah's father for having his own beliefs. A change in time or location would make everything in this book different.
Hayden I agree with you completely! I like what you said about how a different time and location would change the fact that America was at war with England. There are multiple reasons why the war affected the book. Your paragraph was really good!
