Sarah was able to survive on her own for several reasons. First, she was able to survive because she found a cave to live in. The cave was already set up for someone living in it. Second, she had a musket that she used to shoot deer and other animals. Third, Longknife and his family went to the cave to help her build a door. They also showed how to make a canoe, they should her how to make food, and fish. Obviously, she was okay to live alone.
Carmen, I agree with you. I agreed when you said that she had a cave to live in. Also, when you said that she had a musket to shoot things for food. She had the Longknifes to show her how to make a proper door, canoe, and how to make a fire. Finaly, you made me think of winter. That she had warmth from the door. This paragraph reminded me that she had a musket, and not just her suvivel skills.
Carmen, I agree that it would have been easier to move into a cave that at one point had already been a living place for someone else. She was lucky to find that cave. I also agree that the musket was a key to Sarah's survival. Obviously, she did have what it takes to live alone.
Sarah was able to survive on her own because she had very low staderds. Sarah had a father to teach her most things, and the Indian family for the rest. Her standards of living were simple. All she had to do was stay fed, hydrated, and warm. She could talk to the muskrat and the white bat. She could stay fed by shooting pray, with her musket. She was able to stay alive because she had something to live for.
8. Sarah was able to survive on her own because of her limited skills and her determination. Every time Sarah needed a little money to get her to the next place, she was able to find temporary work in a tavern. When the man on the ferry sold a gun to Sarah, and tried to teach her how to use it, she acquired a very useful skill. A skill that would help her protect herself, feed herself and help her feel safe on her own. The relationship with the Longknifes helped her survival also. She was able to have a canoe, a door for her cave, tea and also their company.
Sarah was able to survive on her own because she was very aware of her surroundings. She new how to ration her food for the winter, and she took pretty good care of herself. She learned how to hunt and she kept herseld entertained, so she would not go crazy and to stay fit. She tryed to clean her cave/home every one in a while, and she new when she needed to got buy new stuff in town, so she worked in town for a while then bought the stuff she needed and went back to the cave. So Sarah had a pretty good life in the cave, and she was very smart on how to stay alive from the very begining.
Chloe I completely agree with you. She did become used to her surroundings, and she created a system to get what she needed. You also made me think that maybe she wasn't one of those silly girly girls, from that time. She definitely did not seem like some one who actually liked to dress up all fancy, I think she just went along with it.
I feel Sarah was able to survive on her own, because she just wasn't a normal girl for back then. She was more determined and hard headed than a normal girl would be back then. I also think that she used all the anger and rage that she has felt through out the novel and put it to use by finding a way to channel it into the things she needed to do. She would probably find ways to use her emotions as fuel for energy. I also feel that she some how had a sense that she knew what she was doing.
Sarah was able to survive on own because she learned how to do many things that were important for her survival. The most important, thing she learned was how to hunt. If she hadn't found out a way to get food she starve. Also, she was very smart with her money even though she had very little of it. When she needed to go to town to get things she needed, Sarah would find work, buy the things she needed, then go back to the cave. Lastly, she was aware of here surroundings. She was aware of wild animals and people. This was important because she could get killed by a wild animal or get turned in by someone. Clearly, Sarah had a knew everything that was key to here survival.
