Pages 30 – 31

2. Discuss how Britain had fought in the French and Indian War and how they had accumulated a huge amount of debt. What were the king’s reasons for taxing the colonists? How did the colonists feel about the taxation? Discuss the term “no taxation without representation.”

Pages 32 – 34

3. Discuss how the colonies resented the power of colonial governors and how the king wanted strict control over legislatures. What did the king do to Massachusetts to punish them for the Boston Tea Party? Why did King George say that he felt as strong as a lion after the battle of Lexington and Concord?

Pages 40 – 46
4. Discuss why the Americans would not give up.

5. When Lord Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown to General Washington, how did King George feel?

6. Discuss how colonists were able to go up against such a powerful nation. Do you feel that the Americans could have won without the help from France? How did the colonists’ defense of their own land, principles, and beliefs help them win the Revolutionary war?

What was expected of the King they deepened on him to be loyal, kind, and a good leader. The colonists thought of him as a father because he was very kind and respectful to espousal the ladies. Instead of them kissing his hand he kissed theirs. Be live it or not but at one point he was very kind and shy. But after a wile that started to change. he became mean and selfish thought of no one but him self.

    1. Skyler, I agree with you. That the colonists depended on the king to be loyal, kind, and a good leader. Also, when you said that he was respectful to the ladies. Then you said that things began to change. You are right about all of it. You were also right about how he was selfish. Nice paragraph.

    2. Skyler I like everything you said. They really did depend on him to be kind and loyal. Especially a good leader. That was weird that he kissed the hands of the ladies and not them kissing his. And after a short period that changed significantly. Great job Skyler.

I totally agree with you and I was totally surprised when I read that he was once shy and quiet. I didn't think of him as a very nice man even though he did treat the women fairly, he didn't treat the colonists very well and he didn't care if they were women or not. That is just how I see him and he has left a legacy of foolish mistakes for us all. But other than that I totally agree with you.

I totally agree with you, for one, because he was always nice to everybody, especially the Ladies. Two, he did begin to change, as he got older, and started to be mean and selfish. He was very rude to the colonists. The best way to tax the colonists, is to tell the americans at first, then very very slowly, start to raise the taxes. I totally agree with you, and I like how you put the paragraph together.

  2. Question 2
The French and Indian war happened because the French had land on the land they wanted. After the war was over the king did not have lot of money to give to the soldiers. The reasons why the king taxed the colonists was because he needed money to buy the soldiers what they needed and to pay for there service, and of coarse to buy things for himself. The colonist hated being taxed so much even for the stuff they didn't use or drink they still got taxed on it. There taxing became known as taxation without representation. This means that the king could tax the colonists all he wanted and there was nothing that they could do about it no way they could stop it.

    1. Skyler, The French and Indian war happend because the French were on British land. The British already owned the land. I agree with you when you said that the colonists had to pay tax because of The French and Indian war. Also, when you said that the soldiers service needed money too. Then you said that the colonists hated the tax. I also agree with when you said that this was called "taxation without Representation." This paragraph was good.

    2. I don't really agree with you. The french and Indian war started because the french wanted land that the British had the right to and started a war. King George thought the colonists should pay for the war because the war was to protect them from the Indians. The colonist's didn't want to pay for the war because they were the government and they should pay for it. I think the colonists were right the British should pay for it. I don't think I agreed with any thing you said.

    4. 2. I somewhat agree with you. I think that king George just needed money because his country was in serious debt, not because just because of the soldiers. That too but mainly because of the debt. Also taxation without representation is when a group of subjects is taxed without any one to represent them in the government. In this case, Parliament. Nice paragraph though. Good job.

I totally agree with you, because the colonists were treated unfairly, and they didn't have a say in it. I also technically wrote the same things as what you did. The soldiers needed to be paid, and England was in debt, so the King decided to tax the colonists unfairly. I agree with everything you said, and your paragraph was well written. Good job.

  3. Question 3
What the colonists hated about the governors was that they hated how mean and cruel they are to them. King George also wanted more control over the colonists. What the King did to Massachusetts for dumping all that tea in the Boston Harbor was he took away all rights from them. The reason he felt like a lion after winning over Lexington and Concord was because he liked knowing that he beat the Americans. He liked felling so successful about beating the Americans.

The part that I didn't get was when the king felt like a lion and hadn't won both battles. He only won one of the battles too. If you're saying you feel like a lion you better have won both battles handly. I hated how the government treated the colonists so poorly. They really deserved better.

  4. 1) King George felt like a father because he was a king! He could say and do whatever he wanted. He could boss people around just like a father would do. The colonists looked up to him. I also somewhat agree with you Allison. First of all, I agree with you on what you wrote about how he was expected to be polite, respectful and honest, as all Kings should. I disagree with you on what you wrote about how he could make most of the decisions, and how the colonists looked up to him. Parliament made most of the decisions, the king actually didn't control everything and everyone. The colonists did not really look up to the king, they actually either could care less about him or despised him. There were some colonists who were really loyalists, and respected the king a lot. I think you made some good points, but some were wrong.

The colonists never gave up because they hated knowing that if they did they would once again be under command of the King. And like Massachusetts all their right would probably be taken away. So they they tried there hardest to repeal every act that had been placed upon them. They hated that England had rights to tax them as much as they wanted. And they had no say in an way. Britain had all of the odds in their favor. The king didn't know that the Americans had started a new type of warfare that crushed European warfare. The king wouldn't let his nation lose. He even had it forbidden that any of Parliament vote for peace. But, regardless of his actions, they did vote for peace. Nice paragraph!

Since the British lined up in the open and fired in volleys, the colonists hid in the environment. They used rifles, which are much more accurate than muskets. King George III was expected to basically stop being a boy. When he became King he had a duty to his country, he was supposed to keep things in order and he needed to prove he was a good king. And the reason that it said tat he felt like a father is because he was a King and King's are responsible for a country. It kind of relates to how our teachers sort of feel like our parents because they are responsible for us. When you have a responsibility to take care of others and to keep their country safe and running you need to step up and be a stud. And his,"children," in America were misbehaving and like any parent or leader, when people mess around or goof off and aren't doing what they are supposed to and doing what is right you want them to know that that isn't how it works for as long as you are around. He felt that they needed to be punished for their actions and he didn't think of how they felt when he punished them. That is why he felt like a father figure to the colonies.

When a country is at war they have to have men go without work and without a job and without any way to support themselves. They have to pay for all the clothes and the food and a way to keep all their soldiers alive. It is hard when you have men going to war, having to support them so you can win, and then having so many men die in the end. Plus they had to pay for guns and ammo and all the weapons. Basically if the soldiers could find anything useful to use in the battles they would take it. That is why they were in debt from the war. The king taxed the colonists because they had gone to war with the French in the French and Indian War and they had lost ammo, guns, men and dignities. They had lost a lot of money and they had to make up for it in his opinion. The colonists felt like the taxation was not fair. The king was taxing and for his excuses he said he was paying for the army that was keeping them safe and he had several excuses but he also was keeping a lot of the money and he wasn’t being fair. This was also known as taxation without representation. A lot of the colonists would yell,” NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!!” Which meant that they opposed the way the king undoubtedly taxed them more than the people in England.

Yes, he was taking some of the taxes to pay for the war, and yes, some of it was for good reasons, but most were going into a government's treasury a sea away. I also agree with you on what you wrote about, "Taxation without representation". The colonists did not have any representation in parliament, so to protest they shouted. They didn’t like how he had a strict control over the legislature because they didn’t exactly see eye to eye with him on anything. To them King George III was a dumb human being that wasn’t fair and they didn’t like him. In fact, that was just the understatement of the year. The colonists that were no longer loyal HATED King George III and they didn’t see him fit to be king. The king punished the colonists for throwing the tea into the Boston harbor because they had basically thrown all that money away and he was mad. 1. Garrett, I like what you had to say about King George's duties and that he was expected to change. In my own opinion, it was probably difficult to know at an early age that you would be king and be expected to take care of people. But I think King George did a good job in taking care of his people, just like a father would.

The colonists expected King George to be a great king, he was being so nice to everyone at the beginning. He was like a father because he kissed everyone's hands and they kissed his hands, and everything was great.

  25. 1. King George was expected to be the father to all people in the empire, and the people in American. The people depend on him to make good choice. They also depend on him to be a good and kind leader. King George felt like a father to the men, women, children in America because he makes their laws and tell them what they can do. He is also like a father because he send ships of food and tea to them. He is also like a father to them because he boss people around. Clearly, King George is like a father.

The king was running a monarchy and a monopoly at the same time on the colonists.

  29. Question 1

Many things are asked of a king. They are expected to do whats right, run their country, protect their people, and make sure nothing bad is happening. King George felt like a father for possibly all these reasons. He felt like he was doing a great job and his people appreciated what he did for them. He felt like he had done so much with his country and felt that they owed him thanks and appreciation for it. The colonies did not feel that way though they felt they were like pets or slaves. Doing what they were told and when they are told otherwise they would be punished. When the colonies started to rebel he felt it necessary to ignore this behavior, and he would regain his father figure over the colonies. Instead it just grew worse and because of him feeling so much like a father and expecting that they would listen to him, in the end lead to the Revolution.

  30. King George felt like a father to the colonists because the colonists depended on him. He was the person that the other colonists got their tea and other things from. Also he made the laws. If he raises the taxes and an American colonists doesn't know about it then that person will be forced to live on a prison ship. If that happens then their family will be left to survive on their own without a father to feed them. That's why people depend on his decisions. He had a lot of peoples lives in his hands. That's why he felt like a father to the American colonists.

  31. The king sent troops over to help fight the French, in the French and Indian war. It is not cheap to feed and shelter soldiers. The king thought that since the war was fought on American soil the Americans should pay for the war. The colonists did not like the taxes. They had as much rights as the people in England. When the french broke that agreement that caused a big stir up in Great Britain, which let to the war. The war caused the British even more dept than they were already in. Since the war was fought on american soil, the king decided to tax the colonists to pay for the damage. Which is weird because the British were the one who came here to fight, not the colonist. I know they helped and all, but the British were the ones who came all the way over seas. The taxes were at inane levels and I'm sure if it were more reasonable prices on the imported goods we would have agreed. The taxes were no were near reasonable so there for began the revolution.

  33. Question 3

The colonists resented the governing officials on many ways. First of all they were just normal colonists just like every one else, and yet they were allowed to say what goes and what stays. That is messed up. There was also no say from the people, it was all the either that official's opinion or the kings opinion on the topic they were discussing. So the colonists wanted to show their anger towards this form of government. This act is known as the Boston Tea Party. As a result the King took away Massachusetts right to govern itself. With this new found triumph the King felt as strong as a lion, for keeping his country in order.

They were being taxed at unnecessary heights, their own rights were being taken away, and they were being treated like nothing. The colonists were tired of being treated like nothing more than pieces in the king's game of monopoly. They realized that they were having their rights taken away, rights that no one can take away. When they realized how unfairly that they have been being treated they wanted to put a stop to it. They were the ones who came all the way here. They were the ones who built this settlement. They were being treated like they had to do what England said without one complaint. They didn't have any representation because England thought that they were nothing. Additionally, I agree with you on what you wrote about how they didn't give up on something that they truly believed in. If you had been fighting for so long, why would they give up now? I agree with you about how they worked and prospered on this land, not them, so the colonists should be able to day how they run what they built.

  41. Giuliana H. Question 1 XD XPNovember 1, 2012 at 9:23 AM

King George might have felt as though the colonists were his children for many reasons. First of all, he might of thought that because he was the king and all the people below him were lesser than him, and they obeyed his every word, just like his real children. The people did what they were told, and sometimes even were more obedient that his actual children. Furthermore, King George might of thought of the colonists as his children because he really did want to do what what was best for them in the beginning. He just did what he thought would be fair, which would be to tax the colonists to pay for the war. THe colonists were just so used to not really be ruled by England, so when this happened they did not like it at all. Obviously, King George thought of the colonists as his children because he was the ruler, and they were to be obedient.

  42. Question 5

The king was angry and upset. He was willing to let the colonist run around, and disagreeing with everything. When it came to the time when he was faced with the losing side he was furious. He believed that his troops were the best in the world. What he didn't realized was that its not the amount of training a soldier had its if he believes in what they're fighting for. General Cornwallis must have felt otherwise about fighting the colonists. He must have known he didn't believe in what he was fighting for, but the Americans did. So while the colonists were fighting with all their will he must have realized that they just didn't have the will power to keep fighting. So he surrendered. The king would not have it though. He was they one in charge and he was the one to tell them when to stop. He would refuse to let the colonists win. When the general surrendered he just couldn't accept it.

King George was already worried about money. King George was spending a lot of money on supplies they needed for war. A government official said they should tax the colonists. King George agreed. The king had may reason why he thought they should tax the colonists. First he needed money for the supplies they needed for the war. He also said the colonists had the benefit of the doubt because they fought on there own soil. The king didn't think it was important if they lost men. They have to obey the English government, but they didn't. The colonists did not agree with the taxation. They thought were are in a new place on are own and your taxing us. It wasn't right for the king to do that. The colonists definitely did something about the situation. The colonists were very angry that they taxed them on tea, sugar, paper, advertisements and many more. That is when the Boston tea party took place. The colonist dumped 342 crates of tea each weighing 320 pounds all because they were angry about taxation. The term taxation without representation is how the colonists didn't have representation for the taxes. They just got taxed they didn't agree to what they would get taxed on. That is my opinion on the taxation situation with the colonists.

I have an answer to every single question you have asked me to answer, Mr. Lewis. First of all, Britain accumulated a lot of debt during the French and Indian war because of all the things they had to supply the army with. Britain needed to supply shelter, food, clothing, weapons and anything the army might need. The army wasn't exactly small either, so if it cost a lot for one person, then imagine how much it would cost for the whole British army. Furthermore, the king taxed the colonists because of how much the war cost. He thought that because the war was fought on America's soil, that the colonists should have to pay. He thought that the colonists should pay their fair share. After all, they were subjects of England. Equally important, the colonists resented the taxes, they thought that the king had no right to tax them. The colonists didn't think that a King living a sea away should be telling them what to do. The colonists disliked the taxes, so they came up with the saying taxation without representation. Taxation without representation means that the colonists were getting taxed without any one representing them in Parliament. They were angry at Britain, thats for sure.

The king started to crack down on the colonists. First of all the colonists resented the governors because they did whatever the king wanted them to do, and were extreme loyalists. For the most part, the governors made laws and rules that benefited the king, and not the colonists themselves. Following this further, the king wanted tight control over legislatures because he didn't want them to rebel against him to. The King made the legislatures more controlled so it was hard for them to do anything. Additionally, the king took away the right Massachusetts had to govern itself because of the Boston Tea Party. He wanted to make sure the colonists knew what they did was wrong, and make sure they knew who was in control. Finally, the King felt like a lion after the Battles of Lexington and Concord because he thought it was a major British win, and that it reassured him that this war would be short and the British would win. Certainly, King George did many things to make sure the colonists knew who was in control every time they did something that he thought was wrong.

Britain had fought in the French and Indian War and had accumulated a huge amount of debt, because of all of the weapons and gunpowder they had to use to fight the French. The King had decided to tax the colonists more, because the British were protecting them. The King was also taxing them because it cost more money to ship supplies to the thirteen colonies. The colonists were shocked, because the King told them that they were on British ground. Because of that, they should be treated the same as the people in England. There were many feelings King George felt when General Cornwallis surrendered. When the general surrendered. The king probably thought it is over no it can't be over. They still had ships, officers and weapons. King George sent a letter basically saying this isn't over. That this won't change anything. King George didn't want it to be over. He didn't want peace.

  66. 4)The Americans wouldn't give up anything. They wouldn't give up because if they give up King George would command them and not let them have a say. They didn't want King George to control them. They wanted a leader that will let them have a say. They weren't going to let King George take credit for something they did. The colonists wanted to be free. They also wanted to have rights.

  67. 5) Lord Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown to General Washington. King George felt that it was all over. King George was surprised. King George was fighting a weaker nation that doesn't have a lot of supplies. King George was mad too. King George also felt like he had won. But it wasn't over yet.

  68. 6) The colonists were able to go against England because French. French helped and they were angry with King George. If the French didn't help the colonists they couldn't have won. I think that because the colonists bearly have supplies. The colonists are a small nation. I think they believed in their rights so it made them strounger. They wanted to win for their rights.

    4. The colonists would not give up because they were fighting for something they love. First of all, they knew they have been fighting for it so long, why would they give up now? If you have been fighting and fighting for something that you truly believed in, why give up now? Furthermore, the colonists would not give up because they want to be apart of war when it ended. They already knew that if the British won they would be punished for already in the war, so why not fight some more? On the other hand, if the colonists won, the soldiers would end up being heros. Finally, they already lost so much in the war. They were most likely thinking, "I've put so much effort into this war and so much of my time, and so it would be like all that time and effort would be thrown away." Certainly, the colonists had many reasons why they should not give up.

    5. King George felt many things after the surrender at Yorktown. First of all, he felt depressed. He was sure that he was going to win, and never doubted his army. He didn't ever think that he would ever those, he had a way bigger army and his soldiers were way more experienced. Following this further, he was very angry. He was angry at how the colonists rebelled, and how his army couldn't defeat them. He was angry at all the colonists leaders. Finally, even though he didn't have control over them anymore, he wanted to punish the colonists. He wanted to take back control and punish them so they didn't ever even think to rebel against him again. Certainly, King George had many different emotions, but they all were some how in common.

  71. The colonists could have done many things. I think they needed the French to help them. I think they thought they could have done it alone, but we never know. The colonists believed in the right things to have freedom they knew what was right and what they wanted. I think they did okay with defending there land and they had the French to help. Because the British wanted to rule over the colonists I believe they stopped they crossed the line. They wanted to show them they mattered to. That is my opinion on the situation.

  72. After Britain had fought in the French and Indian War their economy became horrible. The war was seven years long and had cost a lot of money. King George needed a way to make money again. He decided to tax the colonists like crazy. He taxed them on stuff like tea and paper. The colonists refused to pay these taxes. The king was mad and had sent British soldiers to America to keep the colonists in line.

  73. Giuliana H. Question 6... MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVORNovember 7, 2012 at 11:31 AM

    6. The colonists were able to win the war for a couple of reasons. First of all, the colonists were able to go up against a powerful nation because the soldiers and generals really wanted freedom and the soldiers were all for that cause. The British soldiers were just sent away from their homes in England, to fight the kings battle for him. They didn't really care about winning the war, other than after it they would return home. On the other hand, I'm not completely sure that if the colonists didn't get the help of the French they would have won. The colonists really needed the supplies and other things that the French gave them, and I don't think they would have got them if the French didn't help them. Finally, the colonists won because they really honestly loved America, and didn't want their rights taken away. They loved the land they owned, and the idea of democracy. They thought that all men had certain unalienable rights. They fought for these things, and would never give up. The colonists certainly won the war because the odds were ever in their favor.

I agree with you, and all that you have said in your paragraph. The Americans had a purpose for fighting, unlike the British. They loved America, and were willing to fight for their freedom, even if they had to die. They were willing to do anything to protect their country. The Americans still depended on the French, but they could have stood their ground without the French. Your paragraph was well set up, and it proved you point.

  74. King George wanted control over the legislature because he wanted to be able to pass laws in America. If he could pass laws in America then he could stop the colonies from passing laws. The king punished Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party by taking away some of their rights. He took away their legislative power. The king said that he had felt strong as a lion after the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Although he might have said that, the British only beat America in one of the two battles. I don't see why the king felt strong as a lion when they had just lost a battle.

  75. 6. The colonists were able to win for many reasons. First, they adapted to the British fighting style. Since the British lined up and fired, the colonists used cover and fired from behind walls and trees. They started breaking the rules of war and killing officers. I don't think they could have won without France. The Colonists won at the Battle of Yorktown and the reason they won is because of France. The Americans had trapped the British at Yorktown but they were still able to get out by sea. The French fleet came and made sure the British could not get out. Both sides bombarded the British into surrender. The Colonist's beliefs and their want for freedom really helped the colonists win the war. They came to America because they wanted freedom and when it was stifled again by Britain, they were very angry. They believed they should be able to have a say in the government. They wanted freedom in every way. These are some of the things that the pushed the colonists on to keep fighting.

  76. 1. What was expected of the king was him to loyal to all not taxes them till they start to rebel against you and your country. What was also expected was for him to be fair to the colonies not to be a total jerk to them. Why King George felt like a father to the colonies was he was the ruler of them and no one could tell him other wise. He also thought of the colonies as his children because he was their ruler, he also had a thought that he was a loin watching over a group of lamb. The lion be himself and the group of lamb as the colonies.

  77. 1. King George was expected to do a lot of things to be a great King to the colonists. Being a king comes with great responsibilities and duties. First of all he was expected to do everything he needed. He had to have plans for things, and make hard decisions that had to be made. Another, thing he was expected to do was be brave, kind, and caring. He was expected to protect the colonists from any dangers they might face. Lastly, he was expected to care about the people in his kingdom. King George was expected to be a good king, and fulfill his duties and responsibility's.

  78. The Americans wouldn't give up because they had something that they were fighting for. They were fighting for freedom. They had hope which drove them to do whatever it takes to get the job done. They knew that if they didn't win they wouldn't be able to live freely. The colonists knew that they had a chance to beat the British. The British knew they could but their soldiers weren't driven. When you don't have driven soldiers you might as well have a bunch of children fighting for your country.

  79. 2.The British had accumulated a huge amount of debt because of the French and Indian war. After the war ended,King George thought that the colonists should pay more taxes. He taxed them on tea, sugar, stamps, and, other things. King George did this because he could not pay the bills for the war. The colonist were angry because the taxes were unfair and they thought they should have a say. This is basically why The British had accumulated a huge amount of debt.

  80. King George was unhappy when General Cornwallis surrendered to General Washington. He would still say that he was strong as a lion but he was still very depressed. He even wrote a letter and was so sad that he forgot to put the hour and the minute. King George wouldn't let his country find out that he was losing to America. The king was also surprised. He thought that his army was going to blow away the colonists. He couldn't believe that he had a bigger army and he sill lost the battle of Yorktown. His army was also more experienced.

  81. 2. The reason the English fought in the French and Indian war was the French took over the Ohio river area when it was under British control. So when the English sent a letter to them they refused to leave the land the English started what would soon become a 7 year long war with the British on American ground. After the war was over they signed the treaty of Paris which was to say that they were not going to war and that they would hand over the land peacefully. Note the colonies were not invited to this and it took place on their land. So after the war and the treaty the British were thrown in to massive debt and couldn't find a way to get out so the King said that they should tax the colonist, it was fought on their land so he did.

  82. It was very brave of the colonists to stand up to a bigger nation. They fought for what they thought was right and defeated Britain.
America probably could have beaten Britain but it would've been harder to do so. France and Spain were more of a come in for the kill type. The colonists had broken down the British soldiers and the other countries just finished Britain off. It was good that the countries got involved because it helped them get respect from Britain in my opinion. I thought it was good for America too.

The colonists were furious when they heard that they will be taxed more than the british, back in England. They were expecting to be treated by the King the same way the people in Britain. The King wanted to keep things in order, to be able to keep control over the colonies. The King also made sure that strict rules were put upon the colonists. Following the colonists display at the Boston Tea Party, most of England was surprised, by their actions. So the King passed as what we know today as the Intolerable Acts. King George said that he felt as strong as a lion after the battle of Lexington and Concord because he thought that controlling the colonists would be simple and easy. He was obviously wrong.

The Americans would not give up very easily, because they had a reason to fight. They knew they would either have liberty, or death. They deserved to win the war, because they would not give up on fighting for freedom. The colonists would rather die, than to be ruled by a King unfairly. The americans would not stop fighting until they were satisfied. They would do whatever it takes to get the job done. They were drove by the fact that if they won, they would be able to live freely. Plus, the Americans were controlled by a great leader who had experience fighting in war.

Everyone thought that the war was over after General Cornwallis surrendered Yorktown to General Washington. But the King would not let other people know that he lost to a small group of people. So he said that this defeat has not changed anything on what they were going to do. After this he wouldn't let the government think that there was peace between the Colonies and England. But the parliament ignored the Kings demand. After he lost all the American colonists, he had nightmares about losing the war. He said that he never wanted this to happen he just wanted to teach them a lesson, and give the Americans bloody noses.

The colonists were able to go up against a much larger nation, because they knew that if they didn't stop fighting, they would eventually get our point across. The Americans would have had a very small chance of winning the war, if France did not help them. France gave them new hope, to fight more fierce. Most of their problems were gone, when the French decided to help the colonists. They were fighting for their land, their liberty, their rights, and their freedom. That is how the Americans won the Revolution.

  87. 3.)King George felt strong as a lion because, his soldiers had all the guns during the Lexington and Concord battle. And at the begining of the battle and he felt like this battle will show the colonists who is their boss, and he thought that he could be "on top" again.

  88. 4.) The americans did not give up because they wanted their freedom so bad, they had their minds set to being free from Great Britain, and mostly King George III!!! So the Americans tryed harder and harder and harder to get away from Great Britain, to become their own.

  89. 5.) After that King George was a little upset but he did not lose hope. He told himself...we still have boats don't we? and we have guns and powder? and we still have offisers? King George didn't fall down but yet grew taller, he said to himself this is not over!!!

  90. 6.) I really don't know if the Americans could have won without the French. But its FANTASTIC that the French teamed up with the Americans, because that means more people more, more guns, and more British soldiers dead. And thats why we have our country today.

  91. 3. The colonists didn't like the government because they thought it was unfair and unreasonable. The colonists thought King George was unfair. They also thought the taxes were unreasonable. He taxed them on just about everything. King George taxed the colonists on things like stamps, paper, pamphlets and tea.The colonists wanted to have a say and King George wasn't letting them do that. So, to show that they were angry, the colonists dumped hundreds of tea barrels into the Boston Harbor. These are all reasons the colonists did not like the government.

  92. The Americans were able to stand up to the British because the French and Spain helped them fight. I do not think the Americans could have the war without the French's help. The French had a lot of men and supplies. The Americans had few men with little training and were low on supplies. The Americans earned the land that they lived on and no one could take that away from them. One of the reasons why the colonists moved to America was so that they could live freely and think freely. Those desires were the reason why the Americans kept on fighting.

The reason why the king felt like a lion at the battle of Lexington and Concord was he had the power over the colonist and won.He also took away the colonists power so that they couldn't have the power to rebel against the mother country and he felt that the people had to much power so he took that power away..

  94. 4. The reason the colonists wouldn't give up is they were so angry and enraged that the king had the never to tax, them not include in the signing of the treaty of Paris and now he trying to take away our power. So they didn't give up to the British and kept on fighting so they could keep their rights and the British could not tell them other wise.
    5. How the king felt when Lord Cornwallis surrendered to General Washington at York town is he was depressed and anger that he had lost his "children" and that they were disobeying him the "father" of the colonies, so as you could imagine he was angry at them. The reason he was depressed was he thought that after the first battle the colonists would give in and go back to loving him and every thing would be fine but, he couldn't have been more wrong they didn't give in they just fought back.
