Conflict - What are some of the problems that Sarah has to deal with throughout the novel?

  1. Sarah has faced many problems. She has faced lossing everthing shes ever known, stranger danger, the dangers of the open road, the goverment searching for her, and the wilderness. Sarah some how made it through losing her brother, father, and home, and she recovered pretty quickly. She barely got away from that creep she was riding to town with, she's probably forgotten that by now. She has had to face dangers of traveling alone into unfamiliar territory. She has risked the government finding her and bringing her back to court. She has also had to face different dangers of the wilderness, such as hunger, animal attacks, indian invasion, cold, and many other things. Who knows what she will go through next.

    1. Kailee, I agree with you. Sara is losing her life. She had many problems that she had to face. Sarah has to deal with the fact that she lost her family too. Some of her problems put her life on the line! Like you said, who knows what she will do next. Your paragraph made me think of things that I would have never thought of. Great job!!

    2. Kailee you are right. She has gone through a lot more then the normal woman has. She did lose everything she has ever known. She lost her dad, brother, house, barn, and all of her stuff, clothes and all of her animals. Also, she is being chased by British soldiers by something she didn't even do! So Kailee I agree with you! ;)

  2. Sarah has been through A LOT in the past couple of weeks. Sarah has lost her whole family, not to mention her dad died right in front of her. And she is getting chased by the government for breaking the law. Also, she while she is running from the government she gets attacked by this total creeper that she got a ride from. Now, she is living in a cave...alone, and she has to face the dangers of the wilderness. Like, sickness, diseases, wild animals, and hunger. She has been throgh a lot, but she is acting like nothing ever happpened, and she is only 15, i sure couldnt do that.

    1. I think your response was the most accurate. Sarah is definitely a survivor. I am not sure that I could be as strong or as brave. I am quite sure that if I have a gun that I will be able to shoot a deer bigger than Hannah's.

    2. Allison I completely agree with you. I could not find what to call her but, I think survivor fits just right.

  6. 6. Sarah has had to deal with many probelms throughout the novel. Obviously, her father and brother dieing has been a big problem. Losing everything the family ever had in a fire was a life changing situation. Trying to survive with little money or food can be a big problem. Being on the run from British soldiers can be rough. Escaping the creepy, Sam Groshen, and then feeling like you need to help save the sorry jerk, is a whole new problem. There is definitely a lot of conflict in this story.
