Back then woman had no say so, if you were young like Sarah you had to follow your elders beliefs, even if you disagreed. A good example of this is how kids seem to agree with what their parents say, like now how the election is going on. Sarah's dad is also fearful of Sarah's safety. He may be worried that the patriots at the school may harm her. So he could be mad at the teacher instead of Sarah. It really all depends on your view of the story.

One reason on why he was mad would be because Sarah's teacher (Master Wentworth), was a patriot and Sarah's dad was a loyalist. This might cause comotion between them. Also, Sarah's dad thinks that Master Wentworth has become "a mouthpeice for the rebellion". This might have everything to do with polotics, and it might not. But clearly, Sarah's dad was mad because Master Wentworth was a patriot.

Its just kind of funny, they could make anything thats completely rude and uncalled for and make it sound like it was nothing. I am sure if she were to do that she would have been beaten and made to listen to a lecture from her fathers bible. I still wonder why people back then thought of women as nothing more than another person. Women can do just as much as a man can.
