1. Explain why the settlers had to be careful when they left the fort.
2. If you were Samuel, how would you deal with the dilemma of keeping your word when you knew it would hurt other people?
1.) Even though the Englishmen "claimed" the land around the Chesapeake Bay, it was already a home to the Powhatan, and they didn't like that the colonists just took their land. In the first place, the Land that the colonists took was already home to the Indians, and they didn't like that. Subsequently, after the colonists built the wall around their settlement, the Powhatan people quickly started to kill of the colonists, one by one. They hid in the tall grass and whenever an Englishmen would come out of the Palisade, the Powhatan would shoot them with a bow and arrow. They also hid in the woods, and shoot the Englishmen when they tried to hunt. The Englishmen were trapped inside. To sum things up, the settlers had to be careful when they left the fort because the Powhatan people were shooting as many Englishmen as they could.
I agree with you 100 percent on this because the colonists did not know what they were up against because they had set there hearts on the gold that they thought they could find. But pretty soon, they had crossed the line, and the Powhatan's refused to let the settlers survive, and take over their land. The Indians hid in the grass, behind trees, and anywhere they couldn't be seen, so they could end the colonists lives, without much work.
Giuliana I agree with you, and I think your post is really filled with a lot of information. I think it was not right of them to take their land. It was not right because it is not their land and less people will be killed. They should of ask if they could tread for the land. They can tread them sliver and glass beads for land. It is to late to tread because the Indians think they are enemies. Certainly, they need to be careful when they leave the fort because the Indians see them as enemies.
I agree. The English men really didn't get that the land was the Indians before it was theirs. The colonists didn't look very hard for the Indians and got picked off really easy. They should have thought about different places the Indians could have hidden. Then they should have tried to find land that wasn't already claimed. The paragraph was well written. Nice job.
2. One night, when Samuel is supposed to be sleeping, he over hears something that he was not supposed to hear, and he couldn't decide whether or not to tell anyone. First of all, I think that Samuel did the right thing when he told Captain Smith. Mr. Wingfield was being selfish and irrational, with him hiding away food for himself and letting the other colonists starve. I would deal with the dilemma just as Samuel did. I would've done what was right, which was telling Captain Smith and the others about Wingfield. Like Samuel said, the only reason he was not telling anyone at first was because he was scared of Henry, not because of his word. He loved Reverend Hunt, who was dying of sickness and starvation, and so he made his choice out of love and not fear. I would've done exactly what Samuel did.
I agree, because Mr. Wingfield was selfish and irrational. There was enough food to share with everyone, so everyone could be healthy and they wouldn't have to worry about the sickness spreading through camp. Mr. Wingfield should have used his brain, because it cost him his authority.
Giuliana excellent answer I agree with you 100% everyone was starving and dying off it would have been the right thing to do and for Samuel to go to captain smith was the right thing to do if not they would have ended up like the Roanoke colonie.
I agree. Samuel did the right thing by telling Captain Smith. If he didn't, Wingfield would have feasted while everyone else starved. Wingfield also had no regard for life. He wouldn't have minded to let the colonists starve while he ate well. Good, paragraph. I was long and full of info.
The settlers should have been more careful going out of the fort, because, the Powhatan's had already settled into that land. So when the group of colonists invaded their space, the Powhatan's were enraged at the thought, so some of them decided to attack the newcomers. After they built a palisade, and walls to protect camp, the indians attacked whoever went outside the perimeter. The colonists should have listened to Captain Smith, because he actually used his brain unlike the selfish gentlemen who thought they still had authority over the servants and commoners.
Orin I agree with you completely. I pretty much just said what you said in a different way sorta. I like what you said a bought how captain smith was right. They should have listened to him, and that the other men were selfish as could be. Captain smith was right on how they were spying on them.Great ideas by the way I like what you said.I wish I would I would have said that they were selfish.
Orin, I completely agree with everything you said. To start things off, I completely agree with what you said about how the gentlemen were selfish, and how Captain Smith was the only person with a brain. The colonists should have listened to Captain Smith because he had been to the New World before, and knew about it way more than anyone else, especially the gentlemen. The gentlemen didn't have any lights on upstairs. In addition, I also agree with you when you said that the Powhatan's were enraged because of the colonists just taking their land. The land by the Chesapeake Bay had been the home to many Native Americans long before the Englishmen came. I thought that your paragraph was well written and you put some effort into it.
2. If I were Samuel in that situation, I would have done the same thing he did. It was unfair that Mr. Wingfield had all of the good food that would heal everybody for himself. The least he could do was share a little. And that would have at least saved him his authority over the colonists. Samuel made the right decision to tell Captain Smith, and made sure every body thought that Captain Smith found the stash of food. It would have taken me a little while to figure out what to do, but I would have done the same thing.
I agree that it may have taken me a little bit of time to figure out what to do, but I am sure that I would've done same thing. It seems to me the Mr. Wingfield makes himself a poor leader by keeping food from the colonists who he has authority over. I like to see Samuel trusting others and being interested in what is best other people. Maybe Samuel could've made an arragement where he could get better food and keep it a secret. Instead he chose to help everyone by telling the secret.
3. The men had to be careful when they went outside. They could get pumped full of arrows like a target. The indians excel with their bows. They could get attacked by wild animals. The settlers wouldn’t know the difference between a wildcat and a large mole. They could get diseases from anything. The men had very good reason for caution when leaving the fort.
I totally agree with you. To start things off, I want to say that your pharagraph was brilliant. This pharagraph was also amusing. They could get diseases from anything. They also could get hit with arrows like you said. You were right about everything. Once again, this pharagraph was magnificent!
David, I always like reading your answers. I usually always agree, they are humorous and I often get a little more to think about. Wild animals and diseases were definitely something the Englishmen needed to beware of. Although, it seems an arrow might be a bigger danger at first. There would be a lot to think about when settling a new land...sure am glad I didn't have to.
David, I never thought about the men getting killed by diseases or wild animals. I agree with you though. They could get diseases from anything out there, and they might mistake a wildcat or bear for something else. Even though getting shot by the Indians was the obvious way of dying, there were many other ways.
David, your answers are fun fun to read and they have a lot of thought put in to them. I agree with you on the arrows that was the main reason why if you left the fort you very well might come back with a bundle of arrows in side of you. But the part with the diseases were they not all ready in the camp. The part with the animals attacking them as well that was a major possibility an animal could easily gotten to them as an arrows.
4. Samuel was faced with a very hard situation regarding his promise to Henry. I think he did the right thing by telling John Smith about Henry and Wingfield. I think he did the right thing because he was thinking of the other colonists not just of himself. Henry and Wingfield were only thinking of their own skin and their own needs. I would have done the same thing. I know he had to have a lot of courage to do that. Samuel was wise to listen to his friend Reverend Hunt.
I totally agree there thinking of the colonists not himself. I would have done the same thing. I think he did the right thing telling people as well its better than letting people get hurt. I agree that Wingfield and Henry were only thinking of there selves.
1. The dwindling population of colonists, had to be careful when they left the fort. So as not to get filled with poisoned arrows when they left the security of the fort. the Indians were whenever the men left the fort plucking them of one by one. They were doing this because the English men stole their land that was rightfully theirs. The men where also experiencing food poisoning during this time. Even with a palisade they were not safe. No one wanted to go outside the fort to get fresh food or water so they are stuck with magets in their grain and salty water.
3. Settlers had two be careful when they left the fort for a couple of reasons. One is that if they leave they could die by getting shot with arrows. They needed to were armor just in case. They mostly just went out of the fort for digging a grave, getting fresh river water, game, or to relieve themselves. They had to pay extra attention when they left the fort because of Indians. Indians could come out of no-where and try and kill you. These are some of the reasons why they had to be careful when they left the fort.
4. If I was Samuel, I would do the same thing he did. If I had to deal with keeping my word when I knew it would hurt other people, I would have to tell someone. I would tell Captain Smith, which is exactly what Samuel did. It would save other people and it would get Mr. Wingfeild arrested. Mr. Wingfeild was selfesh, dishonest, and it was just unethical of him to keep that food. Samuel definitely did the right thing. Clearly, I would do the same thing Smauel did which was telling Captain Smith which got Mr. Wingfeild arrested.
I agree with you I would do the same thing as Samuel. He made the right choice by telling captain Smith. I like how you said you couldn't deal with keeping your word when you knew it would hurt other people. I agree, Mr. Wingfeild5 is selfish and dishonest, and shouldn't have kept the food all for himself.
Allison, I agree with every thing you said. I like how you put how Mr.Wingfeil was. I would also do the same as Samuel. I don't like hurting people. I think that was the right choice what he did. I am glade that Mr.Wingfeils arrested because now the can get better. Clearly, it was good that Mr. Wingfeild got arrested.
I so agree with Allie I so do the same thing as Samuel telling was the right thing to do even though it might hurt others it was still right. And yes I'm so glade that Mr. Wingfeild is in jail.
3. The English Settlers had to be careful when they left the fort, simply because the Indians were not accepting of them and wanted to kill them. The Powhattan tribe knew the land extremely well and were capable of attacking at any time. The Powhattan's were very skilled in shooting a bow and had no problem killing the settlers in an attempt to keep their land. The Powhattan's were also skilled in hiding and camouflaging in the forest. It made it very difficult for Englishmen to go into the woods to do necessary things, such as collect food and water or go to the bathroom.
Hayden, I liked your paragraph. It had a nice selection of vocabulary words. I agree with you when you said that the Powhatan were very skilled. That they would/could attack any time. Also, that they could camouflage in the forest. That was a big plus for the Indians. It did make it difficult for the Englishmen to do things or to do things. Like getting water, food, and to go to the restroom. Once again, I really liked what you said, and I agree with everything.
I also agree with everything you just said. You took the words right out of my mouth. The only difference was that you explained it like a hundred times better. Like Allison said nice vocabulary. All around it was great. Like I said it was great.
4. If I was Samuel, I am sure that I would struggle with keeping my word also. Firstly, I wouldn't want Henry to kill me! But more importantly, I would want to do the right thing - especially when someone like Henry and Wingfield are selfishly forcing colonists to remain sick and week. It is interesting to watch someone like Samuel who seemed to have no use for relationships, feel like its necessary to trust Reverend Hunt's advise and trust telling Captain Smith his secret.
I agree with you Haden, but Samuel does not want Captain Smith to do nothing about Henry and his leader. I think Samuel wants Captain Smith to get Henry in troble. I know Samuel wants to report it himself, but he does not want to get killed by Henry and niether would I. When Samuel told Captain Smith I thought he wanted it to be reported and not to remain a secret. Other than the secret part I agree with you.
Hayden, I totally agree with you. I have a hard time keeping my word when I know it has the potential and will definitely hurt someone. I also found it interesting to kind of observe Samuel from the point of view that the author has given us. I do feel proud of Samuel for doing the right thing also and going to Captain Smith about it.
1. The settlers had to be careful because they did not know what what going on outside. Ever since the Native Americans attacked them they could not be sure what to expect of them. They also had to be careful because the tribe that attacked them were known to be very territorial. Before the settlers came there was another tribe that had settled there and there is now nothing left. If someone was to go outside with out thinking and unprotected they could be killed, held hostage, or something even worse. Many rumors have been spread of what the Native Americans do to captives, so that also added to the fear factor. I know for one thing I would surley not want to be taken hostage by the Native Americans.
Kailee i agree with you that you have to be careful because you have no idea whats outside. The tribe didn't want any of there land token maybe. I certainly wouldn't want to be held hostage or be killed that's for sure. I didn't know about the rumors about the natives do hold hostages. You learn something new everyday.
2. I wouldn't really know what to do, beacause if I didn't tell everyone would be hurt and if I did then I could get hurt depending on who I told. Its a risky situation because the one person you trusted the most, could be in on the secret. If the situation was extremely serious though, I would tell someone I knew would not be in on it and was strong enough to hold their own ground. It is a really difficult spot for anyone to be in a situation like that because it reallly tests the trust you put in someone.
3) The settlers had to be careful when they left the fort mostly because they could get killed. They ussually only went out to hunt or get fresh water, but they still had to worry about getting attacked. The Indians did not like the settlers and were very good at hiding in the woods. They also knew the land well and were good with a bow and arrow so they could attack at anytime. The Indians were an enemy to the settlers so they had to be very careful when leaving the fort.
1.) Settlers had to be carful when they left the fort because there where Indians every where. They settlers also had lots of tall grass around them where Indians could hide in and shoot the settlers. Before the Indians new where the settlers where they could go and hunt and go to the rivers and fish. After that big battle the settlers only go out of their fort to dig graves. The men who go out to hunt come back with arrows in their side and die a couple of days later. Now they have to be vary carful with their food and they only have so many men now so they have to take care of eachother. Thats why settlers have to be very carful.
2.) If I were Sammuel I would tell Captain Smith. All of the men they have left are very ill and are dieing fast, they need that meat and those eggs. People can not be that selfish when their whole tribe is dieing like that. I would not care if one of my so called "friends" would be mad at me or try to kill me. I could not just stand around and let them eat like kings when everyone else around me is starving and are eating meal worms for all their meals. thats what I would do, I would break that promise for everyones sake.
2.) Chloe I agree 100% with what you wrote. One thing I agree with you about is that you would tell because you knew some people were dining like kings compared to the starving people around him. Reverend Hunt, Richard, and Captain Smith, all people that he loved somewhat, were starving, and then he found out that people he doesn't like at all were getting more than the other colonists ever dreamed of. Another thing I agree with you about is how you said you would break the promise for everyone's sake. If the people are starving, and some people weren't because they were greedy pigs, I would tell, also. I wouldn't be scared of Henry, because I would know that the other colonists wouldn't let Henry kill me. Obliviously, I agree that I would do the same thing as you if we were caught in that situation.
2. If i were Samuel I would tell on him stealing the food. I would do this for the sake of the other colonists good. And for the better of the colony itself. That's personally what I would do I would do whats right. Even if that meant breaking a promise. I would especially tell if someone gave me a death treat in the middle of the night. Also another reason to tell is that you would get good food.
1. The settlers had to be careful when they left the fort, so they wouldn't be surprised attacked. They would be surprised attacked and know one will know because they are out of the fort. They also had to be careful when they left the fort because the Powhatans lived there first and the Englishmen just take their land. The Powhatans were probably surprised that they took their land. The Powhatans are going to try their hardest to get their land back.If some is not careful when they leave the fort they are probably going to get shot or captured. Clearly, if they are not careful when they leave the fort it is not going to turn out bad.
If I were Samuel in that situation I would want to do the right thing. Even though I would be breaking my promise the right thing to do would be to tell captain Smith. Most of the men in the colony were sick or dying. It was selfish of Mr. Wingfield to take all that good food for himself. There was plenty of food for everyone to eat and stay healthy. If he had made a better choice the colonists would nor have to worry about sickness spreading or people starving. Samuel was not only thinking of himself but thinking if the other colonists too. Samuel made the right decision by telling Captain Smith.
2.If I were Samuel, I would deal with the dilemma of not keeping my word when it would hurt other people, so they do not have to find out the hard way. First I would tell Captain Smith what I heard about what Henry said about meat and wine. Henry was going to get meat and wine for Abram because he is sick. I would risk my life for others because they are all getting sick or are already sick. They need energy just in case the Powhatan’s tribe attacks them. It wouldn’t matter as much if I die because I am only one person, but if all the people get sick they wouldn’t be able do much if the Powhatan tribe attacked. I definitely, would tell them about the meat and wine.that is being stolen.
1. The reason the settler had to be careful when they left the fort was so they were not attacked by the natives. If they get attacked they will not know because It will be by surprise. The Englishmen took their land and this is why they are going to get attacked a lot more before the attacks stop. So if one of the men go out and are careless about the native they are going to get killed. If they run out of food they are in trouble because they can't go hunting or fishing.
Exactly because they invaded their land. The natives thinks that is a threat to there empire. The natives think they can just wipe off the englishmen when they have to come out of the palisades. It was nice of the other natives to trade with the and give them tips on where the other Indians were killing them. I'm mean really if they wouldn't have done that then they would be dead. The natives that were killing the colonists shot dog to prove a message. Come on does shooting a dog is never going to prove a point unless you were in love with that dog. I totally agree with what you just said.
1.) The settlers had to be careful when they left the fort to not get surprised attacked and be healthy and well. There were places where the indians could hide and hurt the people. They didn’t want them to steal their food or take any of the items. They had to be careful because at any time a indian or two could hurt them in many ways. Like shooting or with arrows or many different things. the land was the indians. The indians didn’t want their land to get token away. That was rightfully theirs.
Samuel and his colleagues came to the Natives' land and just claimed it and made it their own without any recognition or discussion with the Natives. The Natives did not like this and they wanted their land back so they started to kill the new settlers off. If anyone was even 15 feet outside their walls of safety, they would be shot with a bow and arrow. Some of the Natives were kind and helped them by giving them food and supplies but the one's who owned the land were furious and they fought back to get their land. Thats why they had to be careful outside of their fort.
I agree Amy. The colonists just came and took the natives land. They had to build a wall around their fort because how unsafe it was. If they got to far from the fort they would be killed. Some indians were peaceful but others wanted their land back. The would die for their land.
2. If I were Samuel in this position I and if I know it would hurt people if I didn't tell someone. I would go to captain smith and tell him about the story of master wingfield having food and wine. Because Abram was sick, Henry was taking food from wingfield's stash and giving it to Abram. If did not tell someone about the stash many people would die from starvation.
The reason you had to be careful when leaving the fort is because the natives could be hiding any where. That's why Captain Smith gave Samuel that armor to protect him self in case the natives decided to attack again. He also taught Samuel to use a sword kinda . People had to be careful because the first time they attacked they had killed James why'll he was going to the ships to hide from all the natives and there bow and arrows. But it was to late for James and all the other men that got killed so now they sit behind a palisade waiting to get another supervise attack from the natives.
If I caught someone like Samuel did I would handle it carefully. I would tell everyone but secretly. The reason that I would risk my life doing that is because in my family our parents taught us super valuable things. Those include, treating people how you would want to be treated. Now, if someone found a person with fresh and good food and was hiding it while everyone else was dying of poisoning and starvation like Samuel did, wouldn't you want them to inform you? I have learned and adapted to taking care of others and caring for those close to you and I would definitely tell those who had taken me to the new world. I would stand tall and proud against those people like those who steal lifes and opportunities.
The settlers had to be careful when they left the fort because they were on land that belonged to the Natives. The settlers did not own that land and the Natives did not like them being on their land,so they began killing the settlers if they left the fort. That's why the settlers had to be careful when they left their fort.
I would fell unfair so mean to have done that. Even though it's Henry that he is keeping the secret for he should remain kind like everyone wants him to be. But at this point i guess it would the right thing to do that's why he has decided to tell Captain Smith. He may fell rude or disgusted but like I said it is the right thing to do. And if it was really me I guess I would tell as well.
If I was Samuel I would keep my word with Henry. The reason I would is because I wouldn’t want to die. The thing is I wouldn’t quite a keep my word 100%. I would kind of imply that someone was taking the food. I wouldn’t just spell it out though. I would find a way to get Captain John Smith to find out that someone is taking the food. If it was possible to do it without getting caught then I would.
2.) I would deal with the dilemma of keeping my word by trying to make it look like I had no idea but, I would probably tell someone about it. Everybody needed food especially Abram. I wouldn’t want anyone to know it was me who told. Its the right thing to do to tell someone. It can’t hurt anybody if they don’t know. Samuel did the right thing by telling they could all die if they ran out of food. Wingfield would be the only one with food Abram was sick he needed food.
If I was Samuel in that situation I would tell someone about Mr. Wingfield hiding food for himself and Henry. What I would do is tell someone I know I could trust. I would tell because if I didn't all the colonist would die. I would be very afraid of Henry killing me but, he would not have to know that I had told. I think that Master Wingfield would be kicked out of his place as president. Then Captain Smith could step in as president. If I were him I would defiantly tell the secret.
If I was Samuel and I had to keep a secret that could hurt other people,I would handle that secret with great care. I would tell everyone without telling the person that told me to keep the secret. Our family teaches us those kind of things.
1. The colonists may have colonised in the New World but that does not mean it is theirs. The Powhatan own that land, they were friendly at the start but they will do whatever it takes to get back their land. The colonists built a wall to keep the indians out of their fort. They have to be careful when the colonists go out hunting or to pee. They could come back with a arrow in their back or not come back at all. The indians attack the fort every once in awhile. The indians want their land back.
2. I would keep my word no matter what. If I tell someone the person that told me to keep to keep the secret could get hurt. Secrets are things that you have to keep in the most secret location in your brain. Away from peoples ears. There is no way that you could tell someone. Samuel has to keep the secret no matter what. He could also get in trouble for keeping the secret.
1. I would fell horrible for doing that because if I was in that spot were one of my friends got hurt with an arrow I would mad at my self because I also would of felt like I could of kept him in the tent.
1.I would fell horrible because if I was in Samuel's place I would be so frustrated and mad at my self. For letting my friend go run to the ships. Then get shot by an arrow. If I came out of a tent and saw my friend with an arrow in his body I would be scared to death.
1. Fearghus: The colonists have to be very careful when they leave the protection of their palisade walls. Just because they claimed that land as part of England that does not mean that the Powhattan people will just give up their land. The settlers took and built on Powhattan land. I would not be happy if some stranger suddenly built a house in my family's backyard. That was probably how the Powhattens felt about Jamestown except on a larger scale and with more weapons.
2. Fearghus: If I were Samuel I would privately tell captain Smith about what I had heard. There is a point to which you should break your word if it is for the sake of other's lives.
1.) Even though the Englishmen "claimed" the land around the Chesapeake Bay, it was already a home to the Powhatan, and they didn't like that the colonists just took their land. In the first place, the Land that the colonists took was already home to the Indians, and they didn't like that. DeleteI agree. The English men really didn't get that the land was the Indians before it was theirs. The colonists didn't look very hard for the Indians and got picked off really easy. They should have thought about different places the Indians could have hidden. Then they should have tried to find land that wasn't already claimed. The paragraph was well written. Nice job.

ReplyDeleteOops i meant for that to be a reply to Orin's... oops
Delete2.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it may have taken me a little bit of time to figure out what to do, but I am sure that I would've done same thing.
DeleteOrin I agree with you completely.
Delete3.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. To start things off, I want to say that your pharagraph was brilliant. This pharagraph was also amusing. They could get diseases from anything. They also could get hit with arrows like you said. You were right about everything. Once again, this pharagraph was magnificent!
DeleteDavid, I always like reading your answers. I usually always agree, they are humorous and I often get a little more to think about. Wild animals and diseases were definitely something the Englishmen needed to beware of. Although, it seems an arrow might be a bigger danger at first. There would be a lot to think about when settling a new land...sure am glad I didn't have to.
DeleteDavid, I never thought about the men getting killed by diseases or wild animals. I agree with you though. They could get diseases from anything out there, and they might mistake a wildcat or bear for something else. Even though getting shot by the Indians was the obvious way of dying, there were many other ways.
DeleteDavid, your answers are fun fun to read and they have a lot of thought put in to them. I agree with you on the arrows that was the main reason why if you left the fort you very well might come back with a bundle of arrows in side of you. But the part with the diseases were they not all ready in the camp. The part with the animals attacking them as well that was a major possibility an animal could easily gotten to them as an arrows.
Delete4.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree there thinking of the colonists not himself. I would have done the same thing. I think he did the right thing telling people as well its better than letting people get hurt. I agree that Wingfield and Henry were only thinking of there selves.
Delete1.
ReplyDelete3.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you Allie they had to be careful unless they wanted to meet the arrows the Indians had waiting for them in the tall grass.
Delete4.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you I would do the same thing as Samuel. He made the right choice by telling captain Smith. I like how you said you couldn't deal with keeping your word when you knew it would hurt other people. I agree, Mr. Wingfeild5 is selfish and dishonest, and shouldn't have kept the food all for himself.
DeleteAllison, I agree with every thing you said.
DeleteI so agree with Allie I so do the same thing as Samuel telling was the right thing to do even though it might hurt others it was still right. And yes I'm so glade that Mr. Wingfeild is in jail.
Delete3.
ReplyDeleteHayden, I liked your paragraph.
DeleteI also agree with everything you just said. You took the words right out of my mouth. The only difference was that you explained it like a hundred times better. Like Allison said nice vocabulary. All around it was great. Like I said it was great.
Delete4.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Haden, but Samuel does not want Captain Smith to do nothing about Henry and his leader.
DeleteI meant to spell trouble like that not like i did in that one. And out a y in hayden's name.
DeleteHayden, I totally agree with you. I have a hard time keeping my word when I know it has the potential and will definitely hurt someone. I also found it interesting to kind of observe Samuel from the point of view that the author has given us. I do feel proud of Samuel for doing the right thing also and going to Captain Smith about it.
DeleteAlso, I forgot to tell you that you spelt weak wrong and you spelt it with 2 e's instead of with and e than an a. Sorry.
Delete1.
ReplyDeleteKailee i agree with you that you have to be careful because you have no idea whats outside. The tribe didn't want any of there land token maybe. I certainly wouldn't want to be held hostage or be killed that's for sure. I didn't know about the rumors about the natives do hold hostages. You learn something new everyday.
Delete2.
ReplyDelete3) The settlers had to be careful when they left the fort mostly because they could get killed.
ReplyDeleteI think you are completely correct about that Becca. The Native's would kill them even if they were just getting food and water.
Delete1.) Settlers had to be carful when they left the fort because there where Indians every where.
ReplyDelete2.) If I were Sammuel I would tell Captain Smith.
I meant to capitalize the T in thats on the last sentence.
Delete2.) Chloe I agree 100% with what you wrote.
Delete2.
ReplyDelete1.
ReplyDeleteIf I were Samuel in that situation I would want to do the right thing.
ReplyDeleteThat was number 4.
DeleteI agree with you when you said that you had to tell captain smith.
Delete2.If I were Samuel, I would deal with the dilemma of not keeping my word when it would hurt other people, so they do not have to find out the hard way.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you Carmen would tell but I would be careful about how I tell first about the wine and meat I would not want to hert any one.
Delete1.
ReplyDeleteExactly because they invaded their land.
Delete1.) The settlers had to be careful when they left the fort to not get surprised attacked and be healthy and well.
ReplyDeleteSamuel and his colleagues came to the Natives' land and just claimed it and made it their own without any recognition or discussion with the Natives.
ReplyDeleteI agree Amy. The colonists just came and took the natives land. They had to build a wall around their fort because how unsafe it was. If they got to far from the fort they would be killed. Some indians were peaceful but others wanted their land back. The would die for their land.
Delete2.
ReplyDeleteThe reason you had to be careful when leaving the fort is because the natives could be hiding any where.
ReplyDeleteIf I caught someone like Samuel did I would handle it carefully.
ReplyDeleteThe settlers had to be careful when they left the fort because they were on land that belonged to the Natives. The settlers did not own that land and the Natives did not like them being on their land,so they began killing the settlers if they left the fort. That's why the settlers had to be careful when they left their fort.
ReplyDeleteI would fell unfair so mean to have done that.
ReplyDeleteIf I was Samuel I would keep my word with Henry.
ReplyDelete2.) I would deal with the dilemma of keeping my word by trying to make it look like I had no idea but, I would probably tell someone about it.
ReplyDeleteIf I was Samuel in that situation I would tell someone about Mr.
ReplyDeleteI would to hannah because even thoughit could hurt other people.
DeleteIf I was Samuel and I had to keep a secret that could hurt other people,I would handle that secret with great care. I would tell everyone without telling the person that told me to keep the secret. Our family teaches us those kind of things.
ReplyDelete1.
ReplyDelete2.
I don't agree with anybody. I would keep my secret.
ReplyDelete1. I would fell horrible for doing that because if I was in that spot were one of my friends got hurt with an arrow I would mad at my self because I also would of felt like I could of kept him in the tent.
ReplyDelete2. If I was samual I would keep a secret becaus 1 reason is if I told anywone else it could hurt somone else. Another reason is that he could die.
ReplyDelete1.I would fell horrible because if I was in Samuel's place I would be so frustrated and mad at my self. For letting my friend go run to the ships. Then get shot by an arrow. If I came out of a tent and saw my friend with an arrow in his body I would be scared to death.
ReplyDeletenever mind the won I just typed oops!
Delete1.
ReplyDelete2. Fearghus: If I were Samuel I would privately tell captain Smith about what I had heard. There is a point to which you should break your word if it is for the sake of other's lives.
ReplyDelete
